A Seuss Party!

For Micah's first birthday, we went with a Seuss theme (surprise!).

I used his his monthly photos to make a postcard invitation.

As soon as guests arrived, they knew it was party time!

We lined the hallway with his monthly photos.

Most of the decorations we already had around the house. The banner/bunting is made from pages from an actual Green Eggs and Ham book.

The picture frames have lines from various Dr. Seuss books.

I planned activities for the younger crowd. There were Dr. Seuss coloring pages,

"oobleck" to play with,

and balloons to pop. (The balloons were well-played with, but not popped until after the party.)

Of course it wouldn't be a party without ice cream cake!

Jeremiah had a hard time understanding that this wasn't his party. And that the gifts weren't for him.

Guests got Goldfish crackers for favors.

The party went very well and the kids all seemed to have a great time!

"Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you!"

Oh what fun, Micah is ONE!

Micah is O-N-E! Where did the time go?!

Some stats:

He weighs 18.2 pounds.
He is 2' 4" tall.
He has seven teeth (four on top and three on bottom).
His hair is blonde (it gets lighter with every haircut) and his eyes are blue.
He just started taking steps and can walk (shuffle) about a dozen steps.
He crawls - and fast!
He loves to hold on to the rail of his crib and jump.
He shows some allergy signs to oatmeal (lotion and food).
His eczema is under control, but never fully clears up.
He is finally starting to eat without gagging. He likes bananas, carrots, and prunes as long as they are pureed and extremely smooth (like water). He likes blueberries, bananas, peaches, apples, frozen fruit, and frozen baby food in mesh feeders. He nibbles at teething crackers and toast.
He favors his right hand.
He loves to receive kisses. He will lean his head toward you to get more. He also just likes to touch foreheads, so he'll lean in repeatedly to do that.
He does not assess risk, and will dive head first off of anything. He loves to "wrestle" and climb all over dad.
He used to like baths, but in the past couple months has decided that he now hates them.
He is ticklish all over.
He likes to play peek-a-boo.
He is vocal, but doesn't say any real words.
He interacts well with Jeremiah, always trying to keep up and mimic him.

He is always full of smiles and energy! I pray God will continue to equip us for the years to come!
